hen it comes to protecting your hardwood floors you can never be too careful:Wood flooring is a natural product that responds to humidity variations by expanding and contracting. Sometimes these changes may be noticeable. During warm and humid summers wood expands. During dry weather wood can contract. This seasonal movement is normal for wood flooring.

Hardwood flooring performs it’s best and looks it’s best when the indoor humidity level is between 35-55% all year round. To do this, set up air conditioning and air humidifier in your home. Air humidifiers will prevent hardwood flooring from contracting during heated winter season. Air conditioning helps to prevent flooring planks from expanding during warm and humid summers.  Ideally, the temperatures for hardwood floors are in the range of 68 – 72 degrees.
